Tuesday’s travel news brings an accessibility initiative in Paphos, a reported winter air link with Abu Dhabi and a practical update for travellers flying between Cyprus and the UK.
Paphos maps barriers to more accessible holidays

Paphos is assessing accessibility across its beaches, attractions and rural communities, according to a report published on 8 September. European University Cyprus is carrying out the study for the regional tourism board, with support from the American University of Beirut. Findings are expected by mid-2027 and will inform a 2027–2028 action plan.
The report also describes practical measures already introduced, including floating beach wheelchairs and accessible routes. These are steps towards wider access, not confirmation that every beach or attraction is fully accessible.
Why it matters to visitors: Travellers with access needs can ask local councils and attractions about suitable routes, equipment availability and assistance before visiting.
Larnaca–Abu Dhabi flights planned for the winter

Cyprus Mail reported on 8 September that Wizz Air plans to restore the Larnaca–Abu Dhabi service from 27 October, with three flights a week. The report attributes the announcement to the airline and says tickets are available through its booking channels.
The planned return remains subject to continuing operational and security assessments. Check the airline’s current timetable and booking conditions before arranging accommodation or onward travel.
Why it matters to visitors: The planned route would offer another direct connection between Cyprus and the UAE for winter trips.
UK air-traffic fault disrupts Cyprus flights

Flights linking the UK with Larnaca and Paphos were cancelled on 8 September during a technical problem in the UK’s flight-processing system, Cyprus Mail reported, citing Hermes Airports’ flight information.
In its 19:30 UK-time update that evening, NATS confirmed that the system fault had been resolved and normal operation restored, while work continued to clear the flight backlog. That did not mean every airline’s schedule was immediately back to normal.
Why it matters to visitors: Check your flight directly with the airline before leaving for the airport, and adjust transfer or car-collection arrangements if your arrival changes.
