Cyprus Tourism Update: Moonlit Culture, E-Scooter Rules and a Secret Concert

Coverage date: 27 August 2026

Cyprus is heading into the final weekend of August with atmospheric cultural events, an important proposed change for e-scooter users and a free concert with a mystery location. Here are the three updates visitors should know.

1. A moonlit cultural weekend across Cyprus

A Cyprus Mail weekend guide published on 27 August highlights a packed programme for the final days of the month. Among the strongest options are the full-moon cultural evening at the Ancient Odeon of Paphos on 28 August, the Letymbou Resi Festival on 28–29 August and the Running Under the Moon event at Ayia Napa Marina on 29 August.

The Paphos evening combines a musical narrative and bouzouki ensemble with guided observation of the night sky by the Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation. Letymbou’s festival offers a more traditional experience, with local food preparation, tastings, music and dancing.

Why it matters to visitors: these events offer three very different ways to experience Cyprus beyond the beach — ancient heritage, village gastronomy and a night-time coastal sporting event.

2. Proposed e-scooter rules could bring fines and long impoundments

Cyprus is considering tougher enforcement for illegal e-scooter use. A draft decree reported on 27 August would allow scooters to be impounded for 30 to 90 days in cases involving use in prohibited areas, riders under 17 or devices capable of exceeding 25 km/h. The proposal is in public consultation until 26 September and is not yet a final rule.

Why it matters to visitors: tourists who rent an e-scooter should check where riding is permitted, follow the current speed and age rules and confirm the operator’s conditions before setting off.

3. Award-winning Della will play a free “secret” park concert

Strovolos Municipality and Louvana Records have announced a free Secret Concert in the Park featuring Cypriot dark-pop artist Della on Saturday, 5 September at 20:00. Della is a Music Moves Europe Award winner whose work blends dark-pop textures with dreamy production. The exact park location will be revealed shortly before the show through the municipality, label and artist’s social channels.

Why it matters to visitors: it is a free opportunity to discover a recognised contemporary Cypriot artist and experience a local neighbourhood event away from the usual tourist venues.
