Coverage date: 1 September 2026
Three verified updates published on 1 September give Cyprus visitors a free culture day in Troodos, an important museum-closure notice in Nicosia and a multi-day mountain programme combining trails, sport and local food.
Troodos 3 publishes an enriched programme for 6 September

The Troodos Presidential Residence will open to the public on Sunday, 6 September 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for “Troodos 3”. The free programme includes live music, traditional “tsiattista” poetic duels and workshops in pottery, mosaics, perfume-making, cooking, palouzes-making, weaving, silk craft and traditional music.
Organisers say visitors can park at Troodos Square, beside the Meteorological Station, or at the Troodos Environmental Information Centre. Free shuttle buses, including accessible vehicles, will run to the residence. Visitors are asked to carry a valid ID or another official form of identification for entry.
Why it matters to visitors: It is a rare opportunity to enter the mountain residence and experience Cypriot crafts, food and music in one free event, with practical transport arrangements already confirmed.
House of Hadjigeorgakis Kornesios closes temporarily

The Department of Antiquities announced that the Ethnological Museum – House of Hadjigeorgakis Kornesios in Nicosia is temporarily closed from 1 September 2026. The closure follows electricity-supply problems caused by recent bad weather, and no reopening date has yet been announced.
Travellers planning an old-Nicosia itinerary should check the official Department of Antiquities update before going and consider another nearby museum or walking stop until reopening is confirmed.
Why it matters to visitors: The notice can prevent a wasted journey to one of Nicosia’s best-known historic houses while the closure remains in force.
Mountain Games brings four days of trails, sport and food to Troodos

Mountain Games Cyprus 2026 will take place across the Troodos region from 23 to 26 September. The official programme spans Platres, Agros, Spilia, Kakopetria, Evrychou and Omodos, with hiking and nature walks, orienteering, mountain cycling, cultural performances and activities focused on mountain communities and trail quality.
Omodos will host a two-day mountain-products market and gastronomy programme on 25 and 26 September, including workshops and tastings. Organisers say most public activities are free, although selected evening events may require an invitation or reservation, so visitors should consult the current day-by-day schedule before travelling between villages.
Why it matters to visitors: The event offers a structured way to combine active travel, traditional villages and local food, but the multi-location format makes advance planning essential.
