Coverage: 17 September 2026. Two new, verified updates for visitors planning outdoor activities or a drive across Cyprus. All times below are Cyprus local time.
Thunderstorm warning issued for Thursday night and Friday

On 17 September, the Department of Meteorology issued a yellow warning covering 21:00 that evening to 17:00 on Friday, 18 September. Isolated heavy thunderstorms were expected first in the western half of Cyprus and then in other areas, with possible hail, intense rainfall and strong gusts.
Before heading out, check the latest official forecast and local instructions rather than treating this dated bulletin as a live forecast. Keep beach trips, boat excursions and exposed outdoor plans flexible if storms affect your area.
Why it matters to visitors: a time-limited weather warning can change the suitability of an otherwise routine holiday outing.
Rolling lane closures on the Limassol bypass on Sunday

The Public Works Department announced sweeping work on sections of the Limassol bypass for Sunday, 20 September, from 07:30 to 15:00. The fast lane will close progressively in stretches of approximately 200 metres, with traffic directed into the slow lane past the moving work site.
This is a rolling lane restriction, not an announced full closure of the bypass. Allow flexibility in your journey and follow the temporary signs when passing the works.
Why it matters to visitors: anyone driving through Limassol on Sunday, including on an airport-transfer route, should factor the works into their plans.
