Coverage: 30 September 2026. Three updates for visitors planning time in Nicosia and Larnaca: revised park advice, a forthcoming road-access change and an unusual arts outing.
Athalassa Park: visitors advised to postpone a visit

Cyprus Mail reported on 30 September that Veterinary Services had confirmed a second bird-flu case in a goose at Athalassa Park. Officer Dimitris Epaminondas advised temporarily avoiding visits as a precaution. This strengthens the earlier advice to avoid close contact with birds; it is not a report of an officially enforced park closure.
For now, choose another outdoor stop and check the latest official guidance before returning. Do not approach, touch or feed wild birds.
Why it matters: travellers planning a lakeside walk can adjust their itinerary while the authorities monitor the situation.
Nicosia: an old-city exit is due to reopen on 5 October

The municipality announced that the exit lane from Thermopylon Street towards Oxi roundabout is scheduled to reopen on Monday, 5 October, as works around the walled city enter a new phase. Other nearby construction sections will remain closed, including the stretch from Oxi towards the Promachonas Kostantza municipal car-park entrance, until mid-December.
Why it matters: if you are driving to the old town, allow extra time and follow temporary signs rather than assuming every approach has reopened.
Larnaca: Circus Box combines an exhibition with live performance

A programme reported on 30 September puts circus arts in the spotlight at EVOHK artist-run space. Circus Box runs from 3 to 16 October, bringing together installations, circus objects and visual archives. The opening is scheduled for 3 October at 19:30, with performances; accompanying juggling sessions are planned at Larnaca SK8 Park on 6 and 13 October.
Why it matters: it offers visitors a different cultural stop alongside the seafront; check the organiser’s programme and opening hours before travelling.
