Coverage: 22 September 2026. Today’s digest contains one verified nature story: a rare migrant recorded in the Paphos district.
A rare visitor on the autumn migration route

An Egyptian vulture was filmed at a Forestry Department feeding station in Ayios Ioannis, Paphos, on 22 September, according to a Cyprus Mail report published that evening. Forestry employee and naturalist Georgios Papapetrou recorded the bird.
The species migrates between Europe and Africa, using Cyprus as a stopping point. The department’s feeding station has operated since 1992, supplying checked carcasses as supplementary food for vultures.
Why it matters to visitors: the sighting highlights Cyprus’s autumn wildlife interest, especially for travellers who enjoy birdwatching alongside coastal and village visits.
This is a reported wildlife sighting, not a guaranteed attraction or an invitation to enter the feeding station. Enjoy birds from a distance and avoid disturbing them.
